How can coaching help with bad habits?

Habits are formed mainly by beliefs, conditioning and repetition.

Beliefs normally start from what we learned from the environment: parents, teachers, friends, society, and so on.  With beliefs, come conditioning through experiences.  All your experiences condition you to new beliefs if they defer from those in early years.  With repetition, habits formed and you no longer question why you are doing them anymore or if they serve you at all. I have so many issues. How can a coach deal with all?

You are right.  It is not possible to try to tackle all your issues at the same time.  For the coaching sessions to be effective, you will need to limit the issues to a manageable number, usually 3 or fewer.

The coach will work with you to identify the top 3 issues that is most urgent or having the highest impact in your life and start from there.  More sessions can be added when the goals of the original issues are met to work through the other issues.

Our life is a journey of work-in-progress.  You may not always want to have a coach with you but you get to learn some very important life skills while being coached to help you with the others.  Only when the issues get too big to manage on your own and you need more support and encouragement, you could seek our your coach again.

How do I know if I need coaching?

Almost everyone needs a coach.  Yeah, I can hear you say “are you sure?”.  The doubts are ringing in your ears.  Not everyone is good at disciplining themselves.  The best and most successful people I know have at one time or another had a coach.  Maybe they do not use the word “coach” but mentors, teachers, etc.

What is Coaching Really?

Coaching, unlike training, does not provide you with the answers to questions but rather helps the client to find the answers within themselves by asking powerful and insightful questions.

Very often we know the answers to the questions or issues we have in our lives be it related to our relationships, problems with our careers or money, our purpose in life, etc. but we are reluctant to face the truth about ourselves.

We are very conditioned by society and the environment and we tend to respond to expectations of others than ourselves.  In coaching, we are helping people to look beyond all those and be true to our own needs; take the courage to break through to reveal the magnificence in you.  You can be a lot bigger than you think you are because you have been unconsciously limiting yourself all these while.

Remove your fears, you are someone else, someone you would be very proud of.  So coaching is about working with the inner you.  Like everything else, if you cure what is only on the surface, the benefits cannot be sustainable.  For lasting change to happen, it will have to start with the core.  Coaching works with the core.
